throws

1,2,3,4,5,6.

Honourable mention to Donna Wilson's Nos Da (Nos Da means good night in Welsh and makes me feel five again!) and also this byoootiful Welsh specimen!

It probably seems a little crazy to be posting this given that it was 26 degrees here in London today but honestly I'm really over summer- indian or otherwise and can't wait to snuggle down with Autumn. Time to get my knitting needles out in preparation!

Beginners

Beginners is so beautiful, so sad and so romantic. I loved it!

James and Tilla Waters

I couldn't help but notice these beautiful ceramics at Origin last week when I visited, made even better when I saw that the couple work out of an old farm in Carmarthen, where I was born - well not on said farm but stiil! The longer I'm away from Wales the more I find myself missing it so these were a lovely little reminder of the gentler pace and the green green grass of home!

The hand stamped initials, the colour palette, the smooth forms- oh my they're so delightful!
I hope to arrange a visit someday, but it looks like I won't make it to Wales until 2012! Which is a very Scary prospect. I can barely believe the summer is over. For now I'll have to just pore over their website

Design Week - Roger Arquer

Roger Arquer, who incidentally is one of my tutors, is exhibiting 7 prototypes as part of design week. I went along today to check it out.

Roger Arquer
This is by the far the best of the seven so apologies for not saving the best until last but I just love this idea of using rolling pins and wooden spoons for a little kids chair! So sweet.

The space was really nice too, kind of glad I didn't volunteer to help paint it seeing the size of it today though! It had this lovely old door which I really liked.

Museum of Broken relationships

Lovely visit to the museum of Broken relationships with Ruth, which was almost equal parts sad and funny! My favorite was probably the frisbee which was proceeded by the following rather brilliant text;
Description: a stupid frisbee, bought in a thrift store, was my ex-boyfriend's brilliant idea - as a second anniversary gift. The moral was obviously that he should be smacked with it in the middle of his face the next time he gets such a fantastic idea. Since the relationship is now preceeded by the word 'ex' the frisbee remains in the museum as a nice memory and expelled negative energy. Feel free to borrow it if you like.
P.S Darline if you ever get a ridiculous idea to walk into a cultural institution like a museum for the first time in your life, you will remember me. At least have a good laugh (the only thing you could do on your own).

Brilliant!

Ends & Beginnings

So busy of late, leaving one job and then as it turns out not really leaving it afterall!
I had my last day at South London Gallery a couple of weeks ago but a few emails and a meeting later it seems I'll be back there for a little longer. Didn't even have that much time to miss the place, so pretty pleased about that!

This was drawn by two lovely little ones Ivan and Ricardo who I did a week of workshops and trips with.

I also got some wonderful books from my colleagues and an array of yummies (tea and cakes!) which was super nice of them. This one and this one which I've started and am really into so far.

As for new stuff I'm working on this ArtAngel project which FYI you should all come see! (or hear rather) And say Hi while you're at it!

Been trying to get cracking on some design bits too, working on some flower presses and camera related stuffs so I'll show you all that when I get around to it! slow and steady wins the race right?

Lets be penpals?

Oh internet I do like you a whole bunch, and emails are nice enough to recieve. But really nothing beats the sound the of the post hitting the doormat, unless of course it's just bills!
I love love receiving post and am pretty partial to writing a letter or two. I definitely don't do it enough though so my new resolution is to write more letters!

under the weather breakfast in bed

A little jaunt to Bristol, a new cat, new eyes for one of my best ones (via laser surgery), new job, new plans and a brand spanking new cold! ughhh

i.e for the first time since I can remember I have a cold! and some achy limbs/swollen glands thrown in for good measure. I'm taking it easy between shifts at the new job- lots of tea and yummy dinners cooked for me. And of course a little bit of breakfasting in bed!

I'll tell you about the new job soon and hopefully have some more interesting posts!
Oh and for those who enjoy specificity the breakfast; the most delightful natural yoghurt with apple and granola, copella and a banana

Inspiring spaces

I'm always looking in on other peoples spaces via various outlets allover the internet. It's so inspiring to see where people work and I'm longing to get back to our new studios next month and set up my space for the year.

In the mean time here is my wonderful Sisters little space in the Garden
